Urban Decay is a beauty brand that stands for the empowerment of women — from the products they make, to the causes they support.
In 2015, they launched The Ultraviolet Edge, a global initiative meant to empower women. By supporting organizations that fight for the rights of women everywhere, they encourage all women to embrace their individuality in everything they do.
Urban Decay uses the money it raises through the purchase of its beauty products to support a variety of organizations with missions to empower women. The brand has donated over $2 million to women’s empowerment nonprofits including the Women’s Global Empowerment Fund, Her Justice, and Equality Now.
The Women’s Global Empowerment Fund supports women through economic, social and political programs; creating opportunities while addressing inequality, strengthening families and communities. They do this by providing women with the framework necessary to create viable opportunities for themselves and their families. Through grassroots strategies, marginalized women are given the tools necessary to alleviate poverty thus facilitating sustainable development and empowerment. Their goal is to work for social justice, increased human security and women’s empowerment.
Her Justice stands with women living in poverty in New York City by recruiting and mentoring volunteer lawyers to provide free legal help to address individual and systemic legal barriers.
And, Equality Now is an international network of lawyers, activists and supporters have held governments responsible for ending legal inequality, sex trafficking, sexual violence & harmful practices, such as female genital mutilation & child marriage.
