Trend is a Dirty Word

A Trend. Defined as a general direction in which something is developing or changing, has been drifting out of “trends” this past Fashion Week. Anna Wintour, Editor in Chief of Vogue magazine, explains this shift as a “dirty word”. From the fall shows we’ve seen an unrecognizable pattern in collections. From Alexander Wang’s Marilyn Manson inspired collection to Moschino’s monochrome incorporated edge. It seems Individualism of one’s style is trending itself! The designers this season who’ve absorbed their own style have had the easily most recognizable success this past Fashion Week, Wintour explains. The designers with the most unclear focus were the ones who’s expectations fell out. Fashion is truly about individual style, not what society expects to be most craved at the moment. Now, I’m not saying completely disregard every statement piece that’s rising, but make sure not to fully omit individuality. If it’s not so called “in-season” or the chicest commodity of the moment, honestly forget it. Your style should be representing your character, story, and self. You should feel comfortable, and confident in your clothes. It’s quite as simple as determining what represents yourself best and just going with it.
