So Long, Lashes

We have all heard the saying “take off one accessory before leaving the house”. Well, this season, it seems that our favorite beauties are stripping off the foundation of all of our beauty routines- mascara! Beauties from every walk of life are opting for natural fluttery lashes. Bare lashes can tone down dramatic night looks and add playfulness to daily routines. Hey, imagine what you can do with the time you’ve spent pressed against the mirror trying to get the perfect lash.

Just ask Bella Hadid! The top model that recently revealed a bare face in her Calvin Klein campaign is regularly seen with naked lashes. Or, Fearne Cotton, the British rocker who recently flooded instagram with a wave of no-makeup selfies.

The no-mascara trend has been in full swing this Fashion Month. From New York to Paris, top beauties have been making their way down the runway without a bit of mascara. At the Yigal Azrouel show, the makeup team opted for a look they call “Modern Victorian”. The revival included soft fleshy tone lips, rosy cheeks and dewy skin. A Sephora Pro makeup artist shared “ We wanted to leave the lashes bare…it’s a bit of a response to the whole over contoured trend”. Bare face crowded the Mara Hoffman show as well. To compliment the 70’s Americana theme of the collection, the Sephora Pro Makeup Artist paired naked lashes with bronzed cheeks and bold shaggy brows to frame the cheekbones and create a beautifully tanned look.

If you’re afraid of abandoning those big, bold lashes remember this quote from Lady Gaga “ Whether I’m wearing lots of makeup or no makeup, I’m always the same person inside.
